This allows the insertion of a concrete bolt designed to secure a metal post anchor to the block. However concrete deck blocks can be used without restriction for a freestanding deck thats not attached to your house.
Attaching the deck post is a very important operation as it will influence directly the look of the railings and balusters.
How to attach 4x4 post to deck block.
A good rule of thumb when side mounting is to attach at least one third of the post below the top level of the concrete.
Use a level to make sure the post is plumb in all directions.
There are some pics that will help.
Next set the post in the anchor making sure there is no space between the anchor and the bottom of the deck post.
If you work by yourself you should brace the post in two directions.
Not sure what part of ga you are located in but you may get by with dek blocks in.
Some blocks have a hole in the center.
A third option for attaching a post to solid concrete or concrete block is side mounting which works well on an elevated masonry base such as steps or a raised concrete porch.
I dont know if those dek blocks meet code.
Joists go on top of the 4x4 you can use z max brackets from home depot to secure them.
Just find a piece of scrap lumber and cut it to fit inbetween the floor joists and attach it to the 4x4 post under the deck and attach horizontally or at a perpendicular angle to the floor joist.
